MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE ON THE DEATH OF PRESIDENT OF NAMIBIA DR. HAGE G. GEINGOB
It is with shock and great sadness that we, the community of the St. Charles Lwanga National Major Seminary — a Roman Catholic Institute for training future Catholic priests and spiritual leaders under the Namibian Catholic Bishops' Conference (NCBC), have received the sad news of the untimely death and demise of a remarkable leader H. E. Dr. Hage G. Geingob on the 4th February 2024. Dr. Geingob
fought for the Namibian independence, overseeing the drafting of the country’s constitution and subsequently serving the country twice as prime minister, other ministerial positions and finally as a president.
Dr. Hage G. Geingob was a dedicated Pan-Africanist, peace-loving and a leader par-excellence who committed his leadership to the development of the country and for the well being of the Namibian people and Africa as a whole. He was a God fearing leader who safeguarded not only political values and beliefs but Christians values of justice, solidarity, love and peace amongst others in his words and deeds. He also had a strong commitment to building up the spiritual bond of friendship and communion with the Catholic Church and other Christian communities.
The people of Namibia and Africa have indeed lost a mentor, adviser, and a true Christian and statesman who provided a Guidance and advice whenever called upon to do so. He was a man of exceptional leadership. We pray that God will grant repose to the soul of Dr. Geingob, comfort the Widow Madame Geingos and his entire family and give them the strength to bear their loss. His death is felt particularly by his wife Madam Monica Geingos, the Children, family members and by all of us Namibians including many others all over the world.
We the St. Charles Lwanga Family wish, therefore, to convey our heartfelt condolences to Madam Monica Geingos, the Children, the Namibian Government and all the peace loving Namibians. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as we join the Nation in hounoring Dr. Geingob’s extraordinary life and contributions to the Republic of Namibia.
